Day 4: Time flies and it was already day 4 in the village

"Some travel to see the difference,  others travel to make a difference"
Such a deep quote, its copyrighted not original haha, much credits to google~ Yes, we saw the differences in our lives (back in Singapore and there at Vietnam), the village's living conditions, the education system, and many more. We traveled 2,795.5 km to hoping to make a difference in Phong than village,  but I am sure the experiences in the village taught us more instead and they were definetly valuable experiences.

Okay, back to what we did on day 4~

As usual, we will have a good breakfast  prepared by the village ah mah (granny in hokkien) first, YUM YUM. Always a good meal before our long day ahead~

Walking down our usual route daily

Jiayi all geared up, with her chic sunglasses. So chio hehe~

Before stepping out of the village, we will start gearing up for the unpredictable weather every single day. It was raining cats and dogs every single day OMG. The weather forecast that we checked has proved to be right. And after raining, it meant more mosquitoes. Our Vietnam hats, water bottle, first aid kit, rain coat were out daily essentials. And of course, our mosquito repellent and tiger balm too hahaha.

Team wolfie looks super prepared! All geared up in raincoats/umbrellas~
lol they are not "slow and useless" (their group motto) after all right? haha

On day 4, Team spiderman were cleaning up the toilets and sleeping area while both Team Hulk and Captain America doing construction work. Team wolverine were under the teaching team for day 4. Sadly, toilet and construction team didn't have much photos that day. So for day 4 most photos posted here are featuring the teaching team. Anyway, The teaching team taught the children English, the name fruits and occupation that day.

The Teacher for the day, writing the name of the fruits

Our EVG girls helping us translate our instructions to the children in vietnamese

Students from other classes, peeking into classroom.
these 2 girls very cheeky like to look at our handsome male teachers LOL

Look at how attentive they are!
\

Their class participation definitely score 100%, I can remember clearly some kids were so disappointed if the teacher did not pick them when they raised their hands. We felt really bad and we decided to give everyone a chance to come up to the front to answer questions.

Despite being very petite, this small little boy still had the zest and eagerness to reach for the highest fruit drawn on the chalkboard. Oh ya, don't you think these chalkboards make you think of the good old times at school? Now everyone's using whiteboards~

The children were really hardworking!
They wrote now notes in their jotter books after teaching them the name of each fruit.

WHOO~ finally after 1 hour of lessons, it's time for games! The kids were brimming with happiness when we said it's games time! First game we played was the Eagle and chicken game. Where the "mother hen" needs to protect her "chicks" from the Eagle.

But first, let us take a group shot~ haha

Charmaine and Cheng Ni joining in the game as well!

Peiyu blending in well with the kids. HAHA kidding

And yes special thanks for one of our sponsors Pilot. We were able to provide the children pens and bring smiles to their faces!

We also playing music chairs, pass the parcel and duck duck goose. All the childhood games we played, brings back so much memories when we taught children the games. And of course, we had to join in the fun too. We will  always have a kid in us no matter how old. haha

Look at Kailuen! Getting chased by the small girl. And he got caught!! LOL
Everyone really laughed like mad.

After a long day at the village, we headed back to our "home" for dinner. Our second home~ Actually, by day 4, I am pretty sure many of us felt a little homesick and starting to miss people, missing our lives back in Singapore ( I am sure our beds and toilets too? haha) And we had no WIFI. But I guess sometimes it's good to "disconnect to reconnect". Disconnect from the virtual world, and reconnect with yourself and connecting fully with the people around you. Living in the present moment. No hand phones to distract us haha. It's then we start to realize how lucky we are and appreciate what we have.

Every night, we will have  a debrief session by our CGLs to get an idea what we were going to do the next day/ That night, we have a night reflection. To reflect on our daily actives, our feelings and our thoughts. It was special  reflection planned by our programmers, Eelin, Fred and Charmaine.

We all sat in our own groups and in our own rooms, together with some V team members. We sat in a circle and each person was given a candle (if I didn't remember wrongly, Ikea candles). So when its your turn to start your reflection, you need to lit up your own candle and when you said and signed your piece, you light up the next person's candle and blow your own candle off. The lighting of the candles signified a part of the trip that was positive to yourself while the blowing out of the candle signified a dark moment during the trip thus far.

Guess which group this is!!
After such a deep reflection session in the dark, all of us went to bed, reflecting upon all that has happened in Vietnam thus far.
